Questions

How do I increase evenly across a row?

Divide your stitches into equal sections, one more section than the number of increases when working flat, and increase between sections. This calculator does the division and spreads any leftover stitches evenly.

Which increase should I use?

In knitting, M1 (make one) is a neat, almost invisible increase. KFB also works. In crochet, work two stitches into the same stitch.

Why is working flat different from working in the round?

Flat rows have two edges, so the increases are kept away from the edges, which leaves one more section than increases. In the round there are no edges, so there is one section per increase.
